Blogging
Free resources unless noted

http://edublogs.org
Reasonable subscription buys more, but basic free site is amply sufficient

www.edmodo.com A private social platform for teachers and students to share ideas, files, events and assignments.

http://kwout.com

The new Glog (versus blog)
www.glogster.com
Can create a “poster” about anything using many different graphics, embedded videos, podcasts, etc. Check out the adding and subtracting integers post to see a really neat one.

Microbloggers
http://twitter.com
Write what you are currently doing in 140 characters or less. OK. For those of you who know me—I am way too long-winded for this application; however, maybe it will cure me?!

http://plurk.com
Another sight like twitter, but with a timeline format. I like it better than twitter in many ways. Doesn’t seem to overload as often.

http://identi.ca
Just launched on July 4th, 2008, or thereabouts, another microblogging site. Not as reader friendly, somewhat like twitter interface.

Teacher blogs I like:

http://mrwilliams.edublogs.org
I learned that a lot of the tools I’m using exists thanks to visiting his site. He teaches math, as I do, and perhaps having this little window into his world will help me improve my own teaching.

Mr. Mansour’s class
Another math teacher who effectively uses a lot of web 2.0 tools on his site for teaching and learning, and a great source for inspiration and keeping current.

Math work stations/bulletin board ideas
http://faculty.kutztown.edu/schaeffe/BulletinBoards/bbs.html
Great upper-level math bulletin board ideas each with purposeful, engaging content; interactivity; and assessibility. Could be used for math work stations as well.

Ninetendo DS Brain Age.
A fellow teacher used Brain Age in a math work station this past year to enhance students basic fact knowledge and it worked. 8 Nintendo DS games and 8 Brain Age games were purchased with funds granted from our educational foundation.
