I just had a question about the test on river deep and ratios. On the first test I did today some of the wrds. were so small I could barly see them and I never learned about ratios. ( I never even heard the word intil a couple weeks ago week !)Can you teach it in class, if you don`t already have a plan for it. And do you see the grades for the test, (because I got a 45% on the 1st one , but a 80% on the second one!)

Wow EJ. I’m proud of you. That’s a lot of progress. We haven’t learned about ratios yet. However, we will learn about them and they ask a lot of questions about them on tests! Ratios are a lot like equivalent fractions, at least I think of them like that. I don’t know how they presented them on Riverdeep, so show me tomorrow if I’m not answering your question. But think of it like this. 3:4 is like 3/4. Something equivalent would have to simplify down to 3/4. As long as I divide or multiply by the number 1 disguised as a fraction (3/3 or 7/7 or 100/100- in other words anything that is same/same) then I can find the ratio or go from one fraction to another.
Here’s an example. They tell you 3/4 = ?/8. I just look at what I had to do to the 4 to turn it into an 8. I had to multiply by 2. So, then I multiply the 3 by 2 as well, and that equals 6. So the ? is 6.
Was that the kind of question they gave you? If not, I’ll help you tomorrow, because it’s hard to type here, since it involves fractions.
