Homework Policy

Today, we will finish grading everyone’s first homework assignment which was both workbooks 1-1 (Chapter 1, Lesson 1).
Every student will also have been issued 5 homework passes for this nine week period.
Homework is handled as follows:
A. Homework is not assigned until the lesson has been taught.
B. Homework is written on the board, by period, when assigned. Students are responsible to write the target skill/daily objective (topic to be learned) and the homework assignment in their planners.
C. Homework assignments will usually, but not always, be posted on this blog.
D. To receive a score of 100:
1. Students must have their full name, date, and period on the top of the page.
2. Students must at least attempt every assigned problem.
3. Students must show their work. Work may be shown on the workbook page if room is available or on an additional sheet of paper. (If necessary, work must be stapled to the homework page. Stapled work must be neat. The correct heading must be shown at the top of the page including full name, date, period, and assignment number. (The workbook must also be stated-either Study Guide and Intervention or Practice Skills.) Work and answers must be numbered in order along the left hand margin of the paper (not across the page), so that they are easily found by the teacher). Work should NOT be crossed out or erased.
4. Students must do their homework assignment in pencil.
5. Students must grade their own homework assignment in pen, preferably NOT blue ink.
6. Students must write their score -__/__ (minus number of problems wrong out of total number of problems assigned) at the top of the page where it is easily seen by the teacher.
7. Students must show by a check mark (correct) or an x (incorrect) whether they got each question right or wrong.
8. Students must show the correct answer and the work that goes along with the correct answer on the homework page or stapled work page if they missed any questions.
9. Students in complete compliance with the above requirements will receive a grade of 100% for their homework, even if they did not originally solve all the problems correctly.
10. Students who do not master a target skill (solved less than 70% of the questions correctly) will be retaught that skill as time allows throughout the year. Parents may check their students returned work and gradebook on Skyward to see which skills have been mastered and which skills have not.

Homework passes: The homework passes I issue may be used for my math class only. They are not transferable, and they do not rollover from one 9 week period to another. They are given to students to use at their discretion, wisely or unwisely, to allow for times when a child is genuinely sick, leaves their homework on the counter, has a dog that eats their homework, plays soccer instead of working on math, is not in attendance, etc. Homework passes must be stapled to the homework assignment for which they are being utilized in order to be counted.

If homework does not comply with all of the above requirements and a pass is not used; then the homework will receive a grade of zero, EVEN IF it was completed and all the answers were correct.

Thanks m. The videos are usually from http://www.youtube.com or http://www.teachertube.com. You could try going to those sites directly and typing in the target skill in the search. Maybe that would work better.
