FCAT Sample Test

Posted by: mswalsh | February 26, 2009 | No Comment |

Students took an FCAT Sample Math Test which was given over 25 minutes and had 18 questions. This is to help provide your child with practice on using the answer sheets, filling in the grids correctly, providing math responses in the format asked for.

Using the approximate number of correct answers/points needed for each FCAT Achievement Level chart provided by the FL Department of Education on their website, I have written on your child’s test paper answer sheet, the number of points wrong out of 18, the percentage score that would be, and the FCAT level your child would receive if that were the FCAT test.

The scoring grid was used for the ACTUAL March 2007 Math FCAT test and is as follows:

0-13 questions correct FCAT 1

14-20 questions correct FCAT 2

21-28 questions correct FCAT 3

29-36 questions correct FCAT 4

37+ questions correct FCAT 5

That particular test had 44 questions.

Therefore, the percentage needed to achieve an FCAT level on that test would be as follows below:

84% = FCAT 5

66%-83% = FCAT 4

48%-65% = FCAT 3

32%-47% = FCAT 2

below 32% = FCAT 1

The other possible score is unscorable which means your child did not complete the test, or did not fill in the answer sheet, or filled it in incorrectly, or wrote illegibly.

We will be administering the FCAT March 2007 Math test next week, so your child can gain additional practice on a very realistic test prior to the FCAT.

All sample test questions will be reviewed in class, so students can clarify any misconceptions. It can also serve as a quick review of problem solving in all areas of math mastery.
