The district average for this test was 47% in the district.
The team average (all students on Talons team) was 52%.
The class averages were as follows:

Period 2: 65%
Period 5: 52%
Period 6: 41%
What can this information tell you as a parent?
If your student scored better than the district average of 47%, that’s good. If they scored better than their class or team average, that’s good also.
However, the district is mainly interested in whether or not your child scored better than they did on the Pre-Test. The pre-test scores are also written in the planner.
You can also tell whether or not any points will be added to your child’s grade for the 2nd 9 week period (not the report card being released on November 14, 2008).
If your child scored between 90-100, they will gain 5% on their report card grade.
If your child scored between 80-89, they will gain 3% on their report card grade.
If your child scored between 70-79, they will gain 2% on their report card grade.
If your child scored between 60-69%, they will gain 1% on their report card grade.
If your child scored from 0-59%, they will gain 0% on their report card grade.
Here is the value point information from the district (in case you have elementary children, I included that information too). Sometimes this information changes. Continue to check the district website for the most valid information. www.stlucie.k12.fl.us
Another change this year is in regard to the value-added points awarded to students. The following differentiated model for value-added was placed in the pupil progression plan.
a) Elementary (Grades K-5) - Value-added points will be added to the teacher’s nine week grade to arrive at the final Quarter grade. Benchmark scores of 90-100 will add 10 points, Benchmark scores of 80-89 will add 5 points, Benchmark scores of 70-79 will add 3 points, Benchmark scores of 60-69 will add 2 points, Benchmark scores of 50-59 will add 1 point and Benchmark scores of 0-49 will add 0 points.
b) Secondary (Grades 6-12) – Value-added points will be added to the teacher’s nine week grade to arrive at the final Quarter grade. Benchmark scores of 90-100 will add 5 points, Benchmark scores of 80-89 will add 3 points, Benchmark scores of 70-79 will add 2 points, Benchmark scores of 60-69 will add 1 point, and Benchmark scores of 0-59 will add 0 points.
For the 2008-09 school year, the Value-added points will be added to the subsequent quarter. Benchmark Quarter 1 points will be added into the 2nd nine-week period, Benchmark Quarter 2 results will be added into the 3rd nine-week period, and Benchmark Quarter 3 results will be added into the 4th nine-week period.
